    kppp woes

    my modem is fine
    my settings are fine

auth and noauth has been commented and uncommented

and yet 9.99 times outta 10 i get cut off after ive connected to my isp (netzero)
if by some miracle i do get on, the settings dont work a 2nd time

can someone tell me how to fix this or suggest an alternative?

    hi seth24:

yeah and this is no joke: pon/poff

i think kppp has issues and when i tested it on my machines, i too had very flakey connections. pon/poff isn't purty, it just works every time.

to make an account, open konsole and run: sudo pppconfig
change settings and save them, default is 'provider' which is what i do.

now you can simply type pon in a konsole to get online and poff to go offline.

i know of no other nice dialer except libranet's gui extention to pon/poff which was not released after going out of business

    hope this helps.

    wishing you well.

        Re: kppp woes

okay, then lets do some further study.

        open _two_ konsole sessions.

in first console type: plog -f

in second console do the normal command: pon

watch what happens in first console and hopefully, any errors will be able to help us figure out what isn't working for you. to cancel the first session, use a control+c to cancel it.

        wishing you well.
