    Opera for Kubuntu Dapper?

    Hey,

I was wondering if the latest version of Opera is available for Kubuntu, and if I can add in my old passwords and bookmarks from my winblows version. Yeah, I'm calling it Winblows, the thing had another panic attack on me... I'm installing Puppy as soon as possible.

Or is it too much of an atrocity to install a prop. application for an open-source OS? And where could I find it if I need it? Synaptic, Apt-Get, or would I have to get the tarball?

    Cheers,
    Joro.

from the opera site you can download the deb file of opera for dapper
you will need to install alien via adept or synaptic

Opera 9.00 is available from the ubuntu commercial repo:
      deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/ dapper-commercial main

If you want the latest (9.10), download the deb file for your version of ubuntu from:
      http://www.opera.com/download/
You can right-click the deb-file and choose 'Kubuntu Package Menu>Install' to install

You don't need alien to install deb packages...it's for converting non-native package formats like .rpm

        Thanks guys.

I have a good deal of passwords and bookmarks on this copy of 'blows saved with Opera, and I'd rather not go through the hell that is remembering them.

You can import bookmarks (.adr file) quite easily with opera's import feature. Wand data file might not be that simple, but you can try manually copying the data file to your ~/.opera directory (wand.dat file), don't know whether it works or not

To the OP, please let us know how Flash support works for you in Opera. I'm an Opera fan/user as well, but for some reason in Kubuntu Dapper the flash support for it is not that great. I get a lot of random lockups with it. I tried the suggestions on this forum for flash crashes in Firefox, and while the suggestions seemed to have worked for Firefox, they didn't have the same effect on Opera. Thanks.
