    KDE Printer tools

Hello, I have recently switched from Suse to Kubuntu, love it so far, I just have one issue with the KDE Printer tools. When I try to get them to do anything I get this cryptic error message on my screen:

The executable escputil cannot be found in your PATH environment variable. Make sure gimp-print is installed and that escputil is in your PATH.

    I have Gimp installed

I have tried this in root as well as normal user mode....

so what do I do now?

You may check the situation as follows: if the console command locate gimp-print does not result in anything, you still have to install gimp-print ...

      Re: KDE Printer tools

      Good Morning,

I did the serach in a command window, this is what I get

      /usr/sbin/foomatic-printermap-to-gimp-print-xml
      /usr/share/foomatic/db/source/driver/gimp-print.xml

I also noticed in Gimp, that in the File drop down menue there is no Print Command....seems as if something is definatley missing....

I have read that Gimp-print is now called Gutenberg as well...and that is installed. I can print from the Gwen viewer, and Open Office.

      Thanks for the help...

What you are reffering to is Gutenprint - and yet, in the absence of gimp-print you will not be able to print from Gimp (at least that is what I have experienced). Therefore, I stick to my original recommendation: sudo apt-get install gimp-print ...
