Kubuntu crawls since updates yesterday

Anyone else notice a very marked decrease in speed after all those KDE updates yesterday? My Kubuntu computer is now working at about half the speed it did before downloading those updates! Any ideas on how to fix this or go back (it was quite speedy before)?

this is off the top of my head. when i first started using kubuntu, it was dirt slow (using live cd) and after install, was still too slow to be real. i found however, once i set my monitor res and driver for video card, the system went from slow to normal (not fast, i remember when linux was fast!).

anyway, i've been updating my dapper machines and have not noticed any slow downs here.
