Re: wine runs setup, but not game.

Successfully run in wine as of last month:

Diablo II and Diablo II Expansion (runs fantastically)
    Driver for PC
World of Warcraft (few mouse bugs, but runs well).

Tried to get Dungeons and Dragons Online to install, but .NET Framework fails, haven't done much research there.

I've heard many hardcore gamers say that they don't run games in WINE, they either dual-boot back to windows, or they buy a license of Cedega - http://www.transgaming.com/index.php...isplay&ceid=29
I believe the TransGaming folks do a LOT of the wine work, but Cedega has support.

    Good luck, and God speed!

It really depends on the games. I cancelled my long standing cedega subscription because normal wine on my system runs steam/Half-life 1 and 2 better than cedega, but I am not a hard core gamer, the only other game I do play is Max Payne. If I did WoW, maybe I would still subscribe (though that is getting easier in "normal" wine as well from what I hear)

cedega's , ahem "support" imo is rather a joke (unless you mean game compatibility and not tech support)

How good is gaming using Wine/Cedega compared to M$. Im guessing it shud be better cause linux doesnt use as many resources as M$..this is just a guess.....

no, you mostly will find most games esp .those that use directx will not play as well. tho many less recent games play very well. Half Life 1 runs extremely well in linux. I have never played Half Life 2 in windows, for example so I cannot compare the 2.

my second pc dual boots with xp i install the games there install the games with wine n just copy (whit linux) the files win made for the games or progs y also replaced all the files in wine directory for the ones in win only the same in wine directory

i also want to add that i made pokerstars (for online poker players) work with wine u have to copy both pokerstars n pokertars.net folders to ur install folder in linux
i also disabled the linux windows manager couse it makes some realy funny screen bugs in most progs
but still cant figure out how to get wine-emulated-progs to update files or servers they just hang there

please listen to claydoh about the sudo command wine will make a terrible mess if u do use it
