remove usb icon from desktop

How do you remove the usb icon from the desktop? When the usb drive was automounted I didn't have write access to it so I installed ntfs-3g and am able to have complete access to it but the original desktop icon for the usb drive now does not work and would like to just remove it.

Right click and "Move to trash"
Or did you already try that and it not work?

Have you tried going to the Desktop settings in the Kubunty System Setting; under the Behaviours settings there is a Device icons tab: try un-checking the 'Unmounted removable media' box.

Right clicking it and seeing what options were available was my first attempt before doing anything else. I was hoping to change the path to it but could not figure it out.

Thanks Saltire for showing me how to remove the icon from the desktop, I just learned a new thing today.
