Kword won't run (kwordpart.desktop not found)

I installed kword, but when i try to run it I get the message:

koffice (lib kofficecore): ERROR: Check your installation (did you install KOffice in a different prefix than KDE, without adding the prefix to /etc/kderc ?)

kspread runs.  kspread.desktop is in /usr/share/applnk/Office/ and so is kword.desktop.  They have the same permissions and ownership.  Any suggestions?

I rebooted and now it works. Gee, I hope that Kubuntu is not turning into MS Windows.
