    this is what i get

    when i type sudhanshu@sudhanshu-desktop:~$ sudo kate /etc/apt/sources.list

    Re: this is what i get

    some gui apps don't like sudo, so try using 'kdesu' which is a graphical login prompt for that purpose.

    The top half of the error you are getting is more of a warning as Kubuntu has wacom tablet settings as part of our xorg.conf even if we don't have that sort of device, so it is just noticing that. You will see the same using kdesu, but try that and see if that opens the file up for you.
