    Apps missing documentation

    Hi all,

I am currently running KDE 3.5.5, but this has also happened in the original Kubuntu 6.06 install.  Some applications have documentation, whereas others, when selecting the "Help| XXX Handbook" say "There is no documentation available for XXX".  For example, digikam help brings up the KDE Help Center and says "There is no documentation available for /digikam/index.html."  Digikam is not the only one, just using this as an example.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

    Re: Apps missing documentation

    Maybe this helps:

This is from dolphin (file-manager) documentation problems.

The KDE Help Center tells:'There is no documentation available for
    /dolphin/index.html.'

THree seems to be a problem with the configure script we are using at
the moment. The documentation has bene placed in
/usr/share/doc/HTML/en/dolphin/ which is correct for non-debian
systems. However on debian systems the documentation should go in
    /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/dolphin/

If you copy the contents of /usr/share/doc/HTML/en/dolphin/ to
/usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/dolphin/ then the documentation will show.
So - check: /usr/share/doc/HTML/en/digikam/. If you find documentation there move it to the /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/digikam/
    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?

      Re: Apps missing documentation

It appears that there just isn't any documentation!

K3b, for example, does have documentation:
      pwaldo@office:/usr/share/doc$ dpkg -L k3b|egrep -i "\.html|\.docbook"
      /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/k3b/commands.docbook
      /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/k3b/audiocd-howto.docbook
      /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/k3b/index.docbook
      /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/k3b/cdcopy-howto.docbook
      /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/k3b/dcop.docbook
      /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/k3b/video-encoding.docbook

Digiam, OTH, does not have any.
      dpkg -L digikam|egrep -i "\.html|\.docbook"
      return nothing!

Also, it is a known issue and it is being worked on
        https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu...kam/+bug/57833
and this looks to be an issue with other KDE apps as well.

Some parts of KDE have separate doc packages (kdegraphics-doc-html, for example) so those also may need to be installed and also many other apps have separate doc packages. Digikam's website has decent documantation, I used that to get up and running.
