Why would Synaptic Package Manager be trying to load Gnome and libgnome2-perl? how can i fix this problem i prefer synaptic over adept

Maybe because Synaptic is based on GNOME (while Adept is based on KDE) ... ?!

Correct. Installing Synaptic will install the GNOME libraries and other dependencies that Synaptic needs in order to run. Don't be overwhelmed by the number of dependencies. They're not the big (file size).

i had to install that libgnome2-perl and it installed all the hodge podge that goes along with it
