    Very Slow Keyboard

I was working on my PC today, when all of a sudden
my keyboard seemed to have died. After some testing,
I realized that the keyboard is working, but when I hit
a key, it has to be held down for roughly a second
before the letter echos on the the display.

By the way, the mouse works normal.

I checked the system settings for the keyboard and the
display and did not see any options that would control
the amount of time the key must be held.

Is there a setting in the operation system that
controls the amount of time a key must be held?

This is pretty important to me since this PC is my
primary computer and it is useless to me when it takes
a minute to type roughly 60 characters.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Go into System Settings, Regional & Accessibility
In Accessibility there is a tab Keyboard Filters. Uncheck Use slow keys

I think the system automaticly sets "slow keys" when you press one or more keys for a long time. It happened to me when my girlfriend used the keyboard as a book shelf.

      That was it. Thank you.

I chuckled when I read about your girlfriend's
book shelf. That's definitely something my wife
      might do.

        HakanS, Thank you!

I've spent about 5 hours digging into KDE and Xorg documentation and settings. I thought that KDE had somehow forgotton my keyboard existed.

        OK now.
