    kde menu not working correctly

    hello

I've added several applications to my kubuntu laptop and noticed that many of them did not show up in my KDE start menu. I can live with that (usually) but now I find I can't even EDIT the dart menu items and make them save!

When I manually run kbuildsyscoca, I get this error:

    Kbuildsyscoca running . . .
    Reusing existing ksycoca
kio (KSycoca): ERROR: No database available!

what's happening? I have searched the net for help, but so far, haven't stumbled onto the right info to get kde menu working.

    Thank you.

I get the same Kbuildsyscoca error message as you but I can edit my start menu entries without problems.

Sorry for the obvious question but you are editing the start menu by right mouse clicking on the K and selecting  Menu Editor?

Re: kde menu not working correctly

I have run it from System Settings/Panel/Menu tab. I have run it by right clicking on the K start button, and I have manually run it from a konsole shell (kmenuedit).

I can add the entry, click save and then nothing happens. If I re-open the menu editor, my changes are not there--nada--borked.

I really hate these types of KDE quirks/bugs. . .
