    moto4lin USB L6

I am hoping to download a photograph from my wife's Motorola L6.

I am using kubuntu Dapper Drake with moto4lin. I don't see how to get the
    version number of moto4lin.

It's plugged in on USB. I know that the connection is good because
kmobiletools can talk to it and show the SMS messages stored on it.

But I can't get moto4lin to work with it.

Here is the list of messages I get when I try to connect:-

    [info] Phone pluged as AT
    Try to connect
    [info] AT phone found
[info] Switching device /dev/ttyACM0 to P2K mode...
    [info] Phone pluged as P2K
    [info] Phone connected as P2K
[error] Unable to get phone model
[error] Unable to get drive name
[error] Unable to get file count
[error] Unable to get drive name

    Anybody know what's wrong?

    TIA

I had a similar problem. Try the hoto here:
    http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthre...light=moto4lin

    It worked for me.

But how did you get your kmobile to talk to your phone?

I tried putting /dev/ttyACM0 in the setup/device line, but kmobile just told me to take a hike.

    Edgy Kubuntu
    motorola razr 3vi
    moto4linversion 0.4
    kmobile 0.43 KDE 3.5.5

    Anyone?

      Fintan,

are you (as user) a member of the dialout group? In my environment (Motorola V3 @ Kubuntu 06.10) this helped persuading KMobileTools to cooperate

No I am not a member. I googled for it but couldn't find anything. Do you have a url?

Is it a forum of some sort? Bythw I am in the same environement so can you tell me you did?

          Fintan,

sorry for the mistakable wording - what I meant was this: goto System Settings > User Management > Administrator Mode, select the account of the user in question, proceed to Modify > Secondary Groups > Select and there "move" (add) dialout to the list of Selected Groups ...

            Hi and thanks. Dialout was already in the selected secondary group javascript:replaceText(' ', document.postmodify.message);

            so what now?

              Fintan,

plug in the phone and hack (sudo) lsmod | grep 'acm' into the console - and post your system's response to this ... (maybe there are kernel modules missing).

                      Re: moto4lin USB L6

I got kmobiletools working with my v3m by following this tutorial (12 pages):

                      http://www.maysville-linux-users-gro...t-4-page1.html

I believe the problem you're encountering is detailed on page 5 of 12 but do read and follow from the beginning and you should be able to get it to work.

My mobile device is in /dev/ttyACM0

I'm having trouble getting my phone to work with moto4lin however. Hoping someone has their v3m working and can set me straight. It works fine with bitpim also but the file structure there is nearly indecipherable and I'm hoping moto4lin has a more user friendly file structure ... if I can ever get it to work! It just won't connect!

                      Good luck!

                        Re: moto4lin USB L6

@footer. Thanks for the link. I read through it and then decided to try it out so I plugged in my phone and started up kmobile and presto it worked without me doing anything. I guess I forgot to unplug and replug the phone. anyway thank you very much.

As fas as moto4lin is concerned I followed the steps hear:
                        http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthre...light=moto4lin

Again thank you for the trouble.
                        Cheers and merry x-mas

Yeah, I followed the instructions at that link too. So far, no joy though. Here's what I get:

                          footer@kubuntu:~/Desktop/moto4lin-0.3$ ./moto4lin
                          Form1
                          PhoneMan
                          ScimInputContextPlugin()
                          New mode: 2
                          doActConnect
                          doActConnect
                          P2kProc::doConnect()
                          (E_openPhone: Unable to set configuration)

It doesn't matter if I do sudo ./moto4lin either, same result.

I had that too. I couldn't figure it out, or find help so i did a remove all, trashed eventuall moto4lin config files and reinstalled with synaptic. Then after I followed the instuctions given in the link it worked fine.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I found a post related to the "E_openPhone: Unable to set configuration" error here:

                              http://www.cellphonesforums.com/showthread.php?t=21618

Still won't connect (same error as in previous post). I'M STUMPED!!!
