KDE 3.5.5 upgrade missing package?

I did what the main instructions said, and it installed fine on my VMWare image at work. Seems to be running great.

Only thing I noticed was that package kdeedu wouldn't be installed because it depended on blinker (Or something like that) and that wouldn't be installed because it relied on ttf-sjfonts which wasn't avaliable at all.

So I have a bit of a broken Adept Updater, says there's an update but it won't do it. Kind of a nit pick, but annoying. I'll have to wait to see how that pans out before trying 3.5.5 on any other of my computers.

Did an upgrade on my Kubuntu 6.10 test machine and it upgraded fine. The problem with kdeedu doesn't seem to be there. I did have a problem with the auto updater getting errors. So I manually ran sudo apt-get upgrade and it came to a point where it wanted to know if it should overwrite qt_plugins_3.3rc, I switched to another Konsole and copied it over then switched back and told it to overwrite it.

Seems to work ok now on the test machine. I'll see how the 6.06 fairs tomorrow on the VMWare image.

i am also having troubles over missing packages.
kdenetwork refuses to upgrade since new kopete package is not available thru the repositorys i use:

The underlying problem is that the latest kopete isn't available in the dapper 3.5.5 repos. After some inspecting, I've concluded that one reason for this is that the latest version depends on a version of 'libc6' (>=2.4-1) that isn't available for dapper (dapper has only 2.3.6)

Of course there can be other reasons as well.

About kdenetwork, it's just a metapackage (and one that is not used in kubuntu standard installation)...after you've installed kdenetwork (and the actual packages it installs), you can uninstall kdenetwork safely (the actual packages still remain). Of course that does not solve the problem you can't install the latest kopete.

Incompatibility issues like this can arise when a newer version of software is released that isn't fully compatible with the release version of kubuntu...luckily we get a new release version of kubuntu every 6 months

Dunno who did what but kdeedu, blinken and ttf-sjfonts were on the update list today. Updated fine. 8)
