I have looked at many other threads on the Kubuntu forums, including this thread and the ones linked from it:

None of the fixes listed on these threads help, including editing the update.rc command in the postinst file.
I am trying to install the Adobe Flash plugin through the appropriate instructions in the handbook.

First, when I used Adept, I did not realize that Flash would require a command line install because of the Fun "Adept can't listen to me press the enter key once so I can agree to a silly License agreement or general dialog box in the console". So I had to close adept, restart the computer to remove the lock on the package database, and tried to install using the command line. However whenever I run the second instruction 'sudo update-flashplugin' I get the response 'automatic installation failed due to network problems or upstream changes'.
Flash doesn't work in Firefox or Konqueror. I followed the instructions to also tell Konqueror to hunt out for new plugins but that also failed.
1) Should I bother to look for a fix to this install process, and if so, where do I start probing?
2) If not, should I just remove the package and do the manual install procedure from Adobes site?
Thanks for any assitance in my hunt for flash salvation.
