    how to install Opera?

    hi i have a problem with installing.when i give command ./install.sh it says

    Code:
    Files will be installed as follows:
    -----------------------------------------------------------
     Wrapper Script : /home/cm/bin
     Binaries       : /home/cm/lib/opera/9.02-20060919.6
     Plugins        : /home/cm/lib/opera/plugins
     Shared files   : /home/cm/share/opera

     Manual page    : /home/cm/share/man
    -----------------------------------------------------------
    Is this correct [ y,n,c | yes,no,cancel ] ?
    y
    
    User "cm" does not have write access to /etc
     System wide configuration files:
      /etc/opera6rc
      /etc/opera6rc.fixed
     were not installed.
    what should i do

    installing from source?
    there is a repo with Opera in it...

    deb [url]http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu[/url] dapper-commercial main
    if you want to install from source, i cant help you sorry...

      Login as root or use sudo whould be my guess.

        Log in as root? No.

        Sudo, if necessary:

        sudo ./install.sh
        someguyouknow's advice is best, though, as you will get an updated Opera every six months if you use the repositories' version.

          You shouldn't need to do anything if you only need to have Opera installed for the "cm" user.

          If it's just about the "System wide configuration files" not being installed into /etc, that shouldn't be a problem.
          On Slackware I always installed Opera into ~/bin/opera-X.XX too and left it at that.

          If you're having problems starting Opera, could it be because the ~/bin directory isn't in your path?
          If so, you could simply add a shortcut to the opera wrapper script on the Desktop (or whereever) yourself.

            are you installing from source?

            Opera has a download specific for Ubuntu Dapper Drake. Just download the .deb file and install it that way.
