    Strange Lockups Since DVD Burning

Hi - I'm having a strange problem. My computer seems to lock up frequently. What happens, is the active application stops responding to mouse clicks, but I am still able to use the KDE task bar to switch to another active progam. Eventually, that too will hang, and the entire computer won't respond to mouse clicks for a few seconds, Eventually, it will start working again. When this happens, everywhere I may have clicked when the computer was non-reponsive seems to get clicked in rapid succession, hence, windows and tabs rapidly change based on what I clicked when the computer was locked up.

My computer is a laptop with 1GB ram, 1.8GHz Celeron M running KDE and a fully up-to-date Kubuntu. I usually have firefox, kontact, a konsole window and maybe OpenOffice or another application open - probably shouldn't burden this PC too much.

I first starting noticing this problem after installing some DVD burning software (including libdvdcss) and copying a DVD (a process that went fine).

I've tried looking at top and ps ax at times when this occurs, but nothing out of the ordinary jumps out at me. Are there any ideas as to what might be wrong, and how I can fix it?
