    libsdl1.2debian-oss/alsa - where'd they go?

I was having some issues getting sound working with zsnes, so I decided to try sdl-oss instead of sdl-alsa. I ran synaptic, removed sdl-alsa, and installed sdl-oss. This didn't help my issue, and some other apps have now lost sound as well, but when I went back and removed sdl-oss, but now sdl-oss AND sdl-alsa are both gone from the list of available packages.

    Am I missing something?

Try the package "libsdl1.2debian-alsa" (or "libsdl1.2debian-oss"). I must admit, I never would have guessed those names myself, but searching in Synaptic for "alsa" and o"ss" in Name turned them up where a search for sdl-alsa and sdl-oss would not. Unfortunately, they're easy to forget, as well.
