Using Gmail in imap mode with Kmail - can it be done?

Hi All

Is it possible to operate gmail in "imap" mode or similar - ie viewing messages straight from the server rather than downloading them to the PC?
I know you can use Gmail in POP mode, but that's not what I'm after.

Unfortunately it's a limiting factor with gmail... they just don't provide imap, and unless they do we are out of luck.
