Hi All,
After I do a suspend-to-ram and resume KDE will no longer recognise hot-plugged devices.
For example, inserting a CD or plugging in a USB drive will not result in a new icon in "media:/" or on the desktop.
I understand that KDE uses HAL for this, so I checked out 'lshal' and other graphical hal based hardware browsers for the devices, and sure enough HAL finds the devices with no problem.
Logging out of KDE and logging back in again fixes the problem.
So how do I get KDE to find my devices again without having to restart KDE? Any service restart or dcop call that I can add to my resume script to do this for me?
Thanks in advance,
L.
EDIT:
I've had some success with "dcop kded mediamanager reloadBackends".
Calling this is bringing back icons for plugged in devices to my desktop, but it seems to freeze up KDE completely.
