I'm using Kubuntu with Xgl and two monitors (Xinerama) and it's great, except for placing new windows. About half the time the window will show up in the middle of my main screen or where it was last time I opened that program, but sometimes it will show up in a far corner or on the border between by two screens, so half is in one screen and half is in the other. It's not a huge deal, but it's kinda annoying and I'd like to fix it if possible. I've tried messing around with the placement plugin in compiz but can't seem to make it any better. Also, I unchecked the "Show windows from all screens" box in the KDE taskbar config while I was trying things out and now it won't let me reactivate it. Now, if a window is on another desktop or my second monitor it disappears from the taskbar, which isn't what I want. Does anyone know how to fix either of these?
