    oh crap

I don't know what I did, but gam_server started eating up cpu.

Long story short, I went to use Adept to remove gamin and it started taking out EVERYTHING.

I stopped it before it got too far, but I don't know whats missing. I used apt-get to reinstall adept, kdesktop, konqueror, and their dependencies... I'm afraid to reboot and find I can't.

    Suggestions?

Well I'm not trying to reveal what a real noob I am but is it worth your time to take hours/days to try and fix every little thing that might be broken right now since you said it was removing "Everything" or would it be easier to backup up your personal files you have and reinstall in about 25 minutes? It depends on what is your liking, but for me having my data files on a separate drive the latter of the two would probably be my first choice since I sometimes work alot and need my system running all the time.

well since I still had apt-get I was able to get Adept back and then searched for kubuntu and got all those packages that said "kubuntu" in them and that took care of 90% of the dependancies that I needed.

An hour or two later and I think I have everything back, and a good lesson learned. System reboots fine and I don't seem to be missing anything. Except face.
