how do I force mplayer to keep original aspect ratio of video in fullscreen?
it seems to scale only...

mplayer's system-wide config is in /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf
I need to add monitoraspect=16:10 to ~/.mplayer/config that is almost empty by default (strange; at least copy system-wide conf then; so new mplayer user isn't confused by empty conf file) but overrides system-wide settings
