Firefox Final/Branch/Trunk & Kubuntu Dapper/Edgy

    firefox 1.5.0.5 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv;1.8.0.5) Gecko/2006731 Ubuntu/dapper-security

i experienced this with branch, trunk, and final releases before in kubuntu edgy and now in kubuntu dapper. (formatted & reinstalled dapper this time).

i'm having a strange problem. i installed a fresh copy of ff from the ubuntu repos with adept and ff won't load pages at random. but it seems, after much testing, that when ff does work, its almost only on .org websites. i think i only got one .net and .com website to load. (i have google set to my home page, but ff won't load it).

i followed the diagnostic for "Error loading some websites" on the mozillazine knowledge base, but nothing has worked. i don't have a firewall installed, unless dapper installs one by default.

i was testing trunk nightlies on win32 and wanted to continue doing the same on linux, but i just can't get ff to work right no matter what version i use. permissions aren't an issue either, especially since i installed this straight from the repos. konqueror works perfect, but i'd prefer to use ff.

i would really appreciated anybody's help thats had this or similar problems with kubuntu. i'm at my wits end.

    thanks

    Re: Firefox Final/Branch/Trunk & Kubuntu Dapper/Edgy

Personally, I'm writing this post with FF 1.5.07 rv 1.8.0.7 from the Ubuntu repositories. I got to this .net site from my homepage with a dot com address. So, if I were you, I'd upgrade to the current release via the dapper-backports repo and see if that helps.
