I just want my mp3 players to work. help!

I have a creative zen sleek mtp device and I am trying to hook it up.

I have installed the new amarok and I have installed the new libmtp plus libnjb just in case.
I try to add it to my devices in amarok but it does not give me an mtp device option. When I plug in my zen sleek to the usb port nothing happens. My computer doesn't ask me what to do with the new device it's not in my storage media folder or anything. But if I type "mtp-detect" in the konsole it can see it and sends it 10 million packets over and over and the device says it's docked during this time then the konsole says:
    "PTP: Closing session
    Send packet, size 0000000c
    OK.
    and the device disconects"

So I know the device is there, I just cant use it for some reason in amarok.

    Any suggestions?

Have you tried installing Gnomad? That one should do the trick

    sudo apt-get install gnomad2

    Good luck

Gnomad2 doesn't find my mtp device.
Am I missing something on that?

I have seen that others have used zen sleek with that as well. I have libmtp installed and it finds my player when I check for it. and I have libnjb installed too.

from here, it seems there is a bug in libusb in dapper, so your device may be affected by this.
Also, I don't think amarok for dapper is compiled with mtp support

I am running Edgy. Also, I installed Amarok from source with the mtp option enabled.
Should I re-install libmtp from source?

Amarok can not auto-detect my device, but will connect to and identify it if I add it manually. Amarok Freezes when I try to transfer files. I have submitted a bug report on this. Bug #140270
