    Kernel Error and Pausing

Okay, this error is driving me insane and I could use your help.  A while back when I first tried Ubuntu I would get temporary pausing for a few seconds(the entire screen, mouse keyboard, and everything else pauses for a few seconds) then it comes back like nothing happened. Then I installed slackware to see if it made any difference and didn't have this problem.

Anyway since I've kind of fallen for KDE I thought I would try Kubuntu and so far its very nice.  Anyway I ran across KSystemLog and I saw an error for the exact times when it was pausing, so at least I'm making some progess.

    Anyway, here's the error.
    [17179824.484000] ata2: translated ATA stat/err 0xd1/00 to SCSI SK/ASC/ASCQ 0xb/47/00

EDIT: This is another one that seems to come up with this one.
    [17180293.076000] ata2: command 0xa0 timeout, stat 0xd0 host_stat 0x0

I thought maybe it was being cause by the power settings with ACPI.

Anyone have any ideas, this is pretty much the only thing preventing me from sticking with it.

    Re: Kernel Error and Pausing

Update: Well I managed to figure out somewhat of a fix, popping out my cdrom drive stopped it from happening. I saw a cdrom error that was also at the same time of those other errors... Only Problem is I don't know how to change the driver it uses, which I'm assuming is the problem because the hardware worked in other linux distros.
