    cant edit source.list

i accidently copied a line 35 in my source.list and i want to remove it but it says that i do not have rights to do save the change. this change that was made makes it to the point where i can not install anything onto my flippin computer cuz it says theres an unknown write error or sumthing on line 35...which it was sumthing i copied from automatrix's website.

    any suggestions?

    thanks,

    patrick

    Re: cant edit source.list

    Maybe this helps:

Editing Files that Belong to Root
    http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/permissions

    Or

    make new sources.list

    Sources.list generator
    http://www.ubuntulinux.nl/source-o-matic

Here you can generate an ubuntu sources.list for your preferred set of repositories. Just tick all repositories you want. The default set is selected automatically.
    Before you edit, BACKUP !

      Re: cant edit source.list

sounds like you need to use sudo.

      example
      Code:
      sudo kate /etc/apt/sources.list
