I have an old laptop with a small hardrive. To save space I'd like to forgo it's .KDE folder and instead access one stored on my network. Can I direct my laptop thru a VPN to use a desktop's .KDE folder?
Re: Can I access the .KDE folder on remote computer
Every user on a computer running Kubuntu has their own .kde folder. It specifies the look and feel of all the KDE apps for that user. Among other things, it includes a directory called ~/.kde/Autostart which is consulted (even if it's empty) when a user logs in. I suspect that if your .kde folder did not exist, it would be created via the new user mechanism, the first time you logged in.
I suggest that in order to reduce the strain on your laptop, you use it as a dumb Xserver attached to your desktop through your VPN.
