    Can't install software

I'm new to Linux and just installed Kubuntu for the first time. I downloaded Firefox and AIM, but can't figure out how to get them installed. I read the user manual where it says to go under Add/Remove Programs. I did that, but Firefox & AIM are grayed out.

    Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

    Re: Can't install software

    I think you mean GAIM
The easiest way to install those along with the plugins would be to use Automatix.

you can also try to use Adept to search for and download them.

if you downloaded the programs off of the internet, you are probably trying to install from source which is more difficult but this will help.

or you can use the Ubuntu Guide

or you can just open konsole and put sudo aptitude install firefox gaim

This is all assuming you have the proper repositories enabled.
