every other line in kmail message list is black

Why is every other line in kmail message list black. This just started the other day. The settings are all default. I am using KDE 3.5.4, Kmail 1.9.4. Just upgraded to 3.5.4 to see if that would fix it but it did not.

Not just kmail message list either. It is the same in the automatix package list also.

Go to SystemsSettings>Appearance>Colors and change the color of 'Alternate Background in Lists'
