open office does'nt work

hi everybody!

i'm a new kubuntu user and i've a little problem:

i've just finished the installation but when i try to open a .doc file - for exemple - or to run the word processor it says (in italian):

impossibile avviare l'applicazione.
il gestore dei percorsi non è disponibile.
Service com.sun.start.util.PathSettings cannot be created

.

trying to translate in english it can be something like

"impossible to run the application.
the path manager isn't available.
Service com.sun.start.util.PathSettings cannot be created"

...can anybody help me?
