For two days I've been unable to use Adept. Adept update notifier says there is one package to upgrade but when I start Adept I receive:
When I click ok to close the message Adept opens but is unusable.
The only Apt related application running presently in KDE System Guard is, adept-notifier. I've tried closing it and opening Adept, still get the same error.
Any suggestions as to what might be causing this and how to fix it would be appreciated.

Now Adept starts but when I select to upgrade the packages and "Apply changes" it just hangs.

Another process is using the packaging system database (probably some other Adept application or apt-get or aptitude). Please close the other application before using this one.
