    xorg.conf pretty screwed

    Hey guys!

I too had this problem with the Xserver update but I could fix it. Afterwards I tried to install te fglrx driver for my graphic-card (RADEON 9000) which kinda worked.
The problem is that my xorg.conf looks pretty screwed since it has three graphic cards listed (two for the fglrx-driver and on for the vesa ) and several monitors for each one. Now I've tried to get rid of two (the vesa one and the device1 one) but that brought me back to not being able boot. When I then start the Xserver manually it says:

    Data incomlete in file xorg.conf
Undefined device "ATI Radeon ..." referenced by screen "Default Screen"

    (EE) Problem parsing config file
    (EE) Error parsing config file

Fatal server error: no screens found
XIO: fatal IO error 104 on X server ":0.0" after 0 requests with 0 events remaining

The undefined device thing I could solve by simply changing the reference but still to me the file looks pretty bad. And even then I couldn't get rid of those other entries nor getting the driver to work properly (glxgears moves like a clock).

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks in advance,
    tomboy

    P.S.:
Im using the latest Kubuntu and a Raddeon 9000

      oh boy was that easy

      anyway - i can't thank you enough!!!!!!!
This nearly got me nuts! So thanks again!!!

after reconfiguring xorg the config file lookes very clean with all the right things in there. The only thing i had to change was some frequenzies in the "monitor" section. now everythings ok and the gears are turning.
