    mplayer fullscreen

    I'm posting it here because I haven't got that problem on my previous distro (suse).
    I've compiled mplayer and run this with many movies. I have problem with all of them. When I try to use fullscreen I got movie in normal size with black space around. I supose that is not fullscreen I want. Could you help me!! Please!!!

    Re: mplayer fullscreen

    In my kubuntu/mplayer:

    Mplayer > Preferences > Video > Available drivers: x11 X11(xImage/Shm) -> black box around - no fullscreen

    But if Available drivers: gl X11(OpenGL) or gl2 X11(OpenGL) - multiple texture version -> fullscreen working ok.

    Didn't try other drivers.

    So try to change driver.

      Re: mplayer fullscreen

      I've tried to watch movie with gl or gl2, but I got something like extension GLX missing on display:0.0, no glx support present.
      I've installed all nvidia-glx, nvidia-glx-dev, and some other packages which include glx in their names. What have I got to do now?

        Hmm - if you haven't enabled nvidia drivers then you are probably using vesa ( is this default ?).

        You could try this: Kubuntu 101 (http://kubuntu101.blogspot.com/)

        Installing the NVidia Graphics Driver

        1. Open Adept by going to K->System->Package Manager (Adept)

        2. Type nvidia on the Quick Filter text box.

        3. Choose nvidia-glx from the list.

        4. Click the install package button.

        5. Click commit changes button. You can find it on the menubar of Adept.

        After installation you still have to enable the graphics driver.

        Enabling the Nvidia GLX driver

        1. Go to the Linux console by clicking K->System->Terminal Program (Konsole)

        2. Type:

        $ sudo nvidia-glx-config enable

        3. Provide the administrator password

        You will know that your installation is successful if you see the NVidia splash screen everytime X windows starts.

        Note: Don't know if this works - i'm using Ati (fglrx)

          Re: mplayer fullscreen

          Hi,

          Don't know if this was solved, but you should be able to install mplayer from adept (or aptitude, apt-get), maybe it would work better.
          If you didn't installed all codecs, maybe you should use also easyubuntu or automatix to install them (for easyubuntu, make a search on google, you will find the webpage with all instructions).

          Cheers
