In WinXP I like to use DVD Shrink and WinDVD to watch movies on my laptop when I travel. Are there similiar programs that'll do the same thing in Kubuntu? Thanks.

Lots of them, and lots of discussion about which is best. My preference is Kaffeine. Problem is, all players require libdvdcss2 which is not included in Kubuntu for legal reasons. You can read more about it (and how to get the library you need) here:

Hi,
have not tried it my self but I have been told that DVDshrink runs well with wine. there is a linux program called K9b which does the same thing.
