    "run command" linked to icon?

    Hi all. New to Kubuntu.

I've noticed that if I launch an application from the "run command" line then it launches the app as defined in the app's icon's properties. Where's that set?

If I change the icon for, say, Kvpnc so that it launchess kwrite, then when I run "kvpnc" from the "run command" it launches kwrite. I've tried renaming the icon, so there's no reference to kvpnc - and still typing kvpnc launches kwrite.

If I call kvpnc from konsole, it launches the right app.

This question isn't about launching kvpnc or kwrite - but is "where is it specified that 'run command <foo>' relates to the icon <bar>"

...to the 'How to edit the Kmenu Team.

Right click on the menu icon, select Menu Editor and alter them there, There are corresponding <foo>.desktop files that hold the data but the menu editor is the easiest way to go.

Thanks Teppic - I can edit the application called by the icon. That's not my quesion.

Assume that the icon <foo> launches the application <foo>. I can choose K - Run Command and type "foo" and it launches.

I can edit it so that instead it launches <bah>. When I click the icon, it will launch "bah" Good When I choose K - Run Command and type "foo" it will launch "bah".

If I further change the icon so that it's now called "test" then clicking the "test" icon launches <bah>; but K- Run Command "foo" still launches <bah>.

Where's the correlation set between the menu icons and what's typed on the "K "- "Run Command" applet thingy?

For the archive (to save anyone else scratching their heads for too long)

The menu is generated from files named kde-<foo>.desktop.
It seems that typing <foo> at the Run command launches the relevant .desktop file, rather than launching <foo>
