    Change Konqueror Default View?

The file thumbnails are pretty, but I'd prefer that Konqueror give me the detailed file list view. Is there any way to make that the default?

    Hi,

You should make a search in the forum to enable the "save view profile" option in settings menu, then change the view in konqueror and "save the view profile" should keep this option for you...

    Cheers

Thanks! I usually do not get good results from a search. One thing the search showed me is that I'm not the only one having trouble with this. It also took looking at more than one message to get the solution.

The problem stems from the fact that the Kubuntu developers disabled the Save Profile menu option. Under Settings, "Save View Profile" is shown but grayed out.

From the Kubuntu FAQ, I learned that this is how you re-enable the function:
      sudo rm -r /usr/share/kubuntu-default-settings/kde-profile/default/share/apps/konqueror

      sudo cp /usr/share/apps/konqueror/konqueror-orig.rc /usr/share/apps/konqueror/konqueror.rc

It does NOT solve my problem.
It uses the view i want when i open konqueror from the menu or the konq. button in the panel, that's ok.
BUT when i use the system-menu button(next to the K-button) it always come back with the icon view.
I use this system-menu a lot cause it's handy to open my home, mounted shares, etc all under one button.
I want list view and somehow it refuses to remember that setting, it always gives me back the icons.

          This is very very annoying!
Does anyone know how to change the default profile used for this "system-menu" ?

I deleted that applet from the bar some time ago, so it took me a moment to figure out what you were talk about. I put it back to check, and its items are opening in the Detailed List View like my other instances of Konqueror. Strange that yours isn't.

Did you try opening some folders lower in that tree?
Does it stick with list view?

Someone else will have to respond to this. I messed up my Windows box, and am now having to run Windows on my main (Kubuntu/XP) machine.\
