    DVD playback - no video

I am trying to play dvds with little success. The audio is ok but instead of seeing the video I get a blue screen....

I have installed libdvdcss2, and w32codecs, and have tried with several players (xine, mplayer, kmplayer vlc, etc...) but always get the same. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Tim

Re: DVD playback - no video

Thanks for responding. When I start mplayer from the konsole (gmplayer) and try to load the DVD I get the following error:

      Playing dvd://1.
      libdvdread: Can't stat /media/hdb
No existe el fichero ó directorio
      Couldn't open DVD device: /media/hdb
      File not found: '1'
      Failed to open dvd://1

But if I load the file directly, I get the following output with the screen of the mplayer window is blue...:

      Playing /media/cdrom0/video_ts/vts_01_1.vob.

It looks like the Video decoder gave an error, but I do not know why?

I have two monitors (the portable's screen and an external TFT - Could that be a problem?

      Thanks,

Do you have libxine-extracodecs, libdvdnav4, and libdvdread3 installed? Actually, I don't know for sure that you need all of them, but there the packages I have, in addition to the ones you mentioned, and I've yet to find a DVD I can't play, regardless of region or format.

Re: DVD playback - no video

I installed the mplayer codec set mencoder -- it should be a pretty good collection-- worked for me - libdvdread is essential
