    OpenOffice 2.0.3 proposed startup problem

I have installed the "dapper-proposed" candidate of openoffice 2.0.3 from:

    deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper-proposed main

And while it installs ok, and appears listed under my office kde menu. I am unable to start any of the programs. If I run, for example the word processor from a command line:

    ooffice -writer

Then it just sits there without completing. I think it must be a permissions problem, since if I run it as root:

    sudo ooffice -writer

    Then it runs fine...

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

Re: OpenOffice 2.0.3 proposed startup problem

    Hi,

I've just tried from a 32bits box and it's running well from command line and k menu.
I'm compiling it on my 64 to see if it will work.
Maybe you should try to give output errors to packagers or developers to help them for bug fixing.

    Cheers

Thanks for your comments. The problem is that I did not get any errors, the command line just didn't run.

I have managed to fix it however. I put it here just in case it is useful for anyone else. I copied root's .openoffice.org2 directory over my own, changing ownership with chown and chgrp and now it works. Strange.

      Thanks,

      Tim
