security software

Hello,
I am interested in installing some security software and I was wondering what programs everyone recommends. I know there is clamav, but I'm not sure if it's the best or not. Also, I would like to install some sort of firewall but it needs to be very user friendly(so guarddog is probably out of the question). And as far as spyware goes, do I have to worry about it at all? Is there a spyware program too?

klamav for anti virus
firestarter for a easy to setup firewall

I recommend a strong password, regular backups, and no clicking on mysterious links/attachments in emails or clicking OK for things you're not sure are okay.
