I have kubuntu dapper installed on my toshiba laptop. for no apparent reason all of the sudden it will hibernate , or 'suspend,' and i cant get it to stop. can anyone help?

If you are willing to forego the benefits of hibernation and suspending altogether, you can add the word "noacpi" to the line "# defoptions=quiet splash" in /boot/grub/menu.lst Then, if at some point, you want to use hibernation or suspension, for example, if you're on battery, you can go to the second option on the Grub menu, "recovery mode" and type "startx", when it comes up in a full screen console.
