Saw the icon this morning for updates about 62 of items...
so, as usually just click the icon and enter my password,
and fetch, for downloads then installed...

All, seem to go well.... THEN
just when the application was finishing up, a error message,
pop up saying that some packages could not be installed,
they would break the package? so I click okay,

Restarted,

AND THEN...

I saw the upgrade icon again, click on it there are 9 updates,
available ... HOW EVER, when click the icon this time,
and enter my password I get this ERROR message.


Database LOCKED - Adept Updater
Another process is using the packaging system database...
please close the other package, before using this one...

umm, nothing is running after I did a re-start.... IN FACT,
I did this 4 times, (re-starting) with the same error message.

** Please note: NEWBIE

How does one fix this problem. ( NOT MY FAULT)

Try entering this in Konsole:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

Make sure that no process using adept, apt-get, dpkg is running before you type this command (you can safely leave adept-notifier running).

Okay, did that, say allot of setting up of items...
however, saw allot of dpkg-new is truncated too

okay, it finished.... NOW what ? or is there another step.

None that I know of. Try upgrading again, just in case some things have been left out.

Hey it worked... I think?

I can see 14 upgrades, however, ONE of them said
borken upgradable ( kaudiocreator ) !!!
the rest are okay, what should I do Next

Hope you had it solved by this time. Anyway, if you didn't, just go on with the upgrade, then when it stops with KAudioCreator, do the sudo dpkg --configure -a again.

I Had the sam problem... while downloading a updta it seemed to freeze. Unfotunetely I had to reboot the machine and whe I tryed to update again the error came and remained. The dpkg command worked just fine. Thank U Too!!
