Just upgraded from 3.5.3 to 3.5.4.

Everything is fine except that now fonts in adept looked screwed, like they're not anti-aliased or don't have sub-pixel hinting.

Also my monitor now goes blank after a period of time, even though the screensaver is off.

screensaver does work...yes

well kinda works - what it does for me is come up in its own window - which is pretty cool really - now I dont have to wait for the screen saver to come on to praticse my kana

Yeah, same problem for me, even with a fresh install. Screensaver's off, power-saving settings are off.

What else (and why) would be blanking the screen?

Hmm - have you tried in the konsole:

$ xset -q

mine:

DPMS (Energy Star):
Standby: 1200 Suspend: 1800 Off: 2400
DPMS is Enabled
Monitor is On

turning off (dpms mode off ):

$ xset -dpms

-dpms The -dpms option disables DPMS (Energy Star) features.

+dpms The +dpms option enables DPMS (Energy Star) features.

Check: xorg.conf - do you have ?

I upgraded to kde 3.5.4 some days ago and I can't connect to my bank anymore (using konqueror).

It used to work fine with konqueror 3.5.3 and I still can connect with firefox.
I tried with 2 different computer.
I contacted my bank and they told me they haven't changed anything to their site.

Can someone try the address: https://directnet.dexia.be/ (with kde 3.5.4)

Maybe a SSL problem?
Any thought?

connecting to your bank works fine for me, went to the main page as well as the help page without any worry. as to having an answer to the problem, sorry i don't.

That's weird I have the same problem with 2 computer, I can't connect to the bank with konqueror.

I tried deleting the konquerorrc file and did a dpkg-reconfigure konqueror --> no luck.

Well, I've found that disabling SSLv2 and some SSLv3 Ciphers in configure konqueror ->crypto "solve" the problem.

So i still can use my favorite browser to connect to my bank

i have power saving set to disable but to stop the blanking of the screen i changed the screen saver time to 30 then hit apply then i disabled the screen saver

this seems to have cured the blanking that was occurring ...
