      Re: KDE 3.5.4

I did the upgrade. I don't mind having to configure my desktop, kicker, kwin, etc all again. But the problema I got is that there are a LOT of broken packages appearing on synaptic now, and it seems I can't fix them without uninstalling all KDE.

Oh yes I did the upgrade too in a hurry just before reading the notice Any tips of how to revert back to the old settings?...

KDE 3.5.4 is officially available in Kubuntu.

          http://www.kubuntu.org

Since it has been added to the front page, and RSS feeds have been sent, it's presumably safe to upgrade now.

                I'll probably risk it... tomorrow.

                Coming soon, KOffice 1.6!!

@someguyouknow: how many KDE related things do you have installed? The more KDE stuff you have, the more you need to upgrade.

                    You'd hope so

The README file in the repo has gone and the dates on packages in the kdebase dir at http://kubuntu.org/packages/kde-354/pool-dapper/ have changed from 01-Aug-2006 to 03-Aug-2006 so preusmably they're new packages without the problem.

                    I'll try updating this evening.

                      Re: KDE 3.5.4

Kubuntu: Just did a dist-upgrade to 3.5.4 after doing some selected updates which made the keyboard unuseable. I also have gnome installed.
Yes, the kicker was empty except for Kmenu but was easy to add the applets.
I had quinns cvs xgl/compiz running, still is, and it all went well... so far.

The only problem now is no window decorations when I run kdetv like this: DISPLAY=:93 kdetv (so I can get full-screen video otherwise it and any video crashes when upsized)

just thought i'd add this here for updaters.

I've update "i supposse" by adding a new repositorie in etc/apt/sources.list
then apt-get update, anda apt-get upgrade.
I could view some kde 3.5.4 libraries.
but now when i clic on help--about kde
                          it shows me KDE 3.5.2

                          then..
                          its or not updated ?

So I've updated to 3.5.4 but there's a package showing as broken, namely
                            kde-i18n-engb_3.5.4-0ubuntu1~dapper1_all.deb

                            Synaptic says

                            kde-i18n-engb:
Depends: language-pack-kde-engb but it is not installable

Anyone know how to fix that?

Also, I removed the kubuntu.org/packages/kde-353/ repo from my configuration and replaced it with kubuntu.org/packages/kde-354/ Is that OK or should I have kept the 353 repo too?

                            cheers

                              same exact thing for me.....

other than that minor problem, everything went very smoothly.....
no problems at all so far.....
