Every time i start up Kubuntu the main kmixer opens any ideas how to stop this

Do you have "manually saved session" enabled?
Be sure that "~/.kde/Autostart" doesn't hold any links to kmixer!
Alternately, enable "manually saved session", and save the session you prefer!
System Settings -> KDE Components -> Sessionhandling -> "Restore manually saved session" -> APPLY
Then click "K Menu" -> "Save session", and it should work! -

thanks daller, im still learning all the ins and outs of linux
Nope that didnt help, i tried it again by switching to start with empty session and will see if that does the trickComment
