unable to run java based programs in kde

    Hi,

I alread posted a topic about inability to load applications like azureus, vmware.

    I get the following error

*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (out): 0x088bab20 ***

    or sometimes

*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (fasttop): 0x088bab20 ***

Both these programs run very well with gnome. So now I am forced to log into gnome to use vmware even though I would like to use kde.

I upgraded to 3.5.3 but the problem still persists.

    Can anybody help ?

    Thanks

    Karthik

The error messages that you show seem to imply a problem with glibc. I can't see why there would be a difference between Gnome and KDE in the way the java interpreter calls glibc, but apparently there is. I can think of only two (drastic steps). The safer, but less likely to work is to reinstall glibc. The more dangerous, and more likely to work would be to either reinstall java or install another java interpreter. (There are at least 3 jre's available.) You could lose the ability even to work in Gnome, though.

      Hi

Thanks for your suggestions. However I set it right.

I noticed that in a newly created user all the said apps were working fine in both kde and gnome. So I moved all the profile files in my login and that did the trick. ( but didnt work out when I deleted the .kde dir alone - so deleted entile /home/username/*)

I dunno which of the profile files / directories had the problem. However its working fine now.

      Thankyou.
