armaroK and Kaffeine problems

I have a few problems with audio players...
I have installed the Arts engine for amaroK, it seems to work for .oggs but not MP3s.... however now I cannot switch back to the Xine engine in amaroK to try it out... it says "xine was unable to initialize any audio drivers".

Kaffeine has the Xine engine, and can play .ogg and even .wma files - however no .MP3s or .m4as. The majority of my music collection is in MP3 (no suprise there), so this is a pain.

I think you need to install the libxine-extracodecs package from the multiverse component of the Ubuntu repository to have MP3 playback.

I'm not so sure why you can't switch back to Xine in Amarok.
