    easy ubuntu problems

    hello all. i just installed kubuntu dapper drake and tried to run easyubuntu to get everything working right (mp3s, avis, dvds). however, i'm getting a number of error messages when i run it. could someone take a look at this log and help me out:

    i'm not real computer savvy, but i can follow point and click/cut paste type directions. i'm sorry if this is a redundant post. i searched backposts and couldn't find an answer. thanks.

    It looks like when you were running the program, the repository packages.freecontrib.org was/is down, and I believe it is the repo that contains the w32codecs. The messages you see basically say that the w32codecs package was not installed, but it looks like everything else was installed. I cannot tell if all the other bits were run, ie enabling Nvidia drivers for example.

    try getting the w32codecs file from this post:http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showpost...62&postcount=6
    then simply right-click on the deb file, and then go to "Kubuntu Package manager" and install it that way. Then if you need to, try running easyubuntu again so it can finish whatever it was that didn't finish the first time

      i've now got my mp3s, avis and dvds all playing properly.
