    X: Error

    Hi
When I start a KDE app from the console I get the messages shown below. The programs seem to run all right, though.
Is my system set up wrong since these messages are displayed?

X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 168
      Major opcode:  145
      Minor opcode:  3
      Resource id:  0x0
    Failed to open device

    Failed to open device

I got the same thing with a remote ssh X forwarding session yesterday -- seemed to be alright though.

Google didn't show any enlightenment, and I didn't find any bug reports on launchpad. Nobody seems to know what it means (An enlightened one is welcome to prove me wrong :-P).

If you happen to have an Nvidia GeForce FX5200 card, then the solution could be:

If it is so, let me know!

If it is not so, there are recommendations that this does not matter. You're supposed to just "comment" the warning away. (meaning add ##)
It sounds a bit dodgy though as further down these threads you often see all sorts of misery appearing... I wouldn't recommend it.

Do you have nVidia graphics card?

        Just a thought.......

When you open a KDE app from console, you use kdesu whatever
        not sudo whatever.

Not sure if thats what you did, but it may help. Or not.

I don't use kdesu nor sudo. And it does not only happen with KDE apps. Also with Opera, and I suppose with all X apps.
