Can not play real media files in kaffeine

I have w32codecs installed and xine extracodecs but I still can't get any real media files to play. As far as I can see from reading forums and wikis they should play with the plugins I have. Is this right and any idea what I am doing wrong?

    many thanks

Re: Can not play real media files in kaffeine

Hmm - do you have ffmpeg installed ?

    Here kaffeine tells:

    clip 1
    Mime: application/vnd.rn-realmedia
Video: Real Video 1.0 (ffmpeg) 320x240
(This is a bit crappy (in kaffeine), but plays. mplayer plays ok. VLC starts, but crashes)

    clip 2
    Mime: application/vnd.rn-realmedia
    Video: Real Video 2.0 316x236
    (Plays ok)

    about win32 binary codecs:
"This package contain video codecs for popular proprietary formats not natively supported by mplayer.
    .
    .
    .
    RealAudio
    RealVideo 8
    RealVideo 9"

What is your clips information (version) ?

Do you get error message ?
